Currie Hall

Cultural Awareness Program

Currie Hall welcomes students from around the world, and we revel in the diversity of backgrounds and experiences they bring.

But sometimes there can be confusion and misunderstanding between people from different backgrounds.

This initiative for first-year students has been funded by the Vice-Chancellery for 2009 and involves a series of Diversity Dialogues around race and cultural diversity.

The program’s objectives include:

  • Creating awareness of cultural diversity, racism and community harmony among Currie Hall students.
  • Developing intercultural competency, cross-cultural learning and interaction between students.
  • Making connections between non-residential UWA students and Currie Hall students.
  • Producing graduates who are citizens of the globe and who have broadened their experience of different cultures in an educational setting.
